Evon Mullings serves as the founding General Manager of Jamaica Music Society (JAMMS), the local Licensing Body/collecting society which administers performance rights on behalf of record producers and performers.
He is trained in Economics and has many years’ experience in senior management, planning and development, and has also worked for periods in the Foreign Service and the Central Bank. In his role as head of JAMMS he is responsible for the strategic operations of the company, with a view building it into a formidable enterprise locally and extending the organization’s reach internationally to harness greater levels of royalties for its members (rights-owners). He has a firm grasp of Copyright & Neighbouring Rights, Music Rights Management, Publishing, and Business Innovation.
He was a leading figure in the Copyright Act amendment process, leading up to 2015, which has givenJamaican music rights owners 95 years of copyright protection from the previous 50 years which existed. He has served on the Board of the Recording Industry Association of Jamaica (RIAJam), the National
Library and also the Board of Studies of the School of Tourism, Hospitality and Entertainment at the Excelsior Community College. He has appeared as panellist, presenter and guest speaker at major music conferences in Jamaica and throughout the region.
He has plans to expand the role of JAMMS to become a vertically integrated enterprise meeting a wider range of needs of the local music industry.
