Dr. Jacqueline Gyamfi Greene is a wife, mother, dentist, Co-Pastor of Forward City Church, and – a Forward Woman. A melting pot of traditional southern values and Ghanaian heritage, Jackie’s upbringing and young adulthood emboldened in her: authenticity, individuality, and the power in being the “you” that God created you to be.
With a nod to the importance of duality – Jackie, an accomplished scholar, is currently a full-time wife & mother along with leading Forward City Church. Jackie’s highly regarded passion for ministry was birthed during her undergraduate tenure at Georgia Southern University – where she met her husband Travis.
Jackie is a firm believer in the power of prayer – and she is passionate about sharing the fundamental truths of faith, prayer, and authentic self-worth for women everywhere.
We had an opportunity to engage her in her transition into full time ministry, as we believe there is a gap for unconventional women who can’t quite say yes to the call, due to the demands of life and fear of the unknown. Here is what she had to say about her journey
“I honestly didn’t plan to go into full time ministry; at least not right now, but God has the best way of directing our paths.
After undergoing the rigor to become accepted and matriculate through dental school; which in total was an 8 year process. It seemed as if this chapter was coming to a close by God strategically setting me up to use my dental degree in another way.
I ended up graduating in the chapel of a hospital the day before my dental class graduation, due to the unforeseen circumstances of my water breaking halfway through my pregnancy. This was history in the making for my dental school; as there has never been a graduation ceremony outside of the school’s regulatory commencement exercises.
After God allowed my first born son to make it through a life threatening pregnancy, and an extended neonatal intensive care unit stay; I believed that it was my duty as a mother to ensure all was well on the family front. Due to my son being born three months premature, I felt that I needed to spend time at home with him before going on to pursue my dental career. Because of this, my husband and I decided that I would stay home with David Jace, our miracle son, until he was at least two. Since this decision, our big boy has progressed very well; with no signs of prematurity.
As I was getting Jace to his 2 year mark, and my husband and I were just at the point of starting full time ministry with the launch of our very own church plant, Forward City Church, we came to know that we were expecting another baby! Since the birth of Travis Joshua, we have embraced the newness of being full time Pastors. As you can see from the evidence of our journey, it would seem as if full time ministry somewhat chose us.
We’ve just recently completed our one year celebration as Pastors of Forward City Church, and we are full steam ahead with sharing the love and hope of God everywhere he sends us. At present, I do this by preaching at our local church, leading our women’s ministry, and taking various engagements to go and impart messages of inspiration to those to whom God sends me
I do believe that he will allow Dentistry to be intertwined in my ministry on a greater level as we progress forward. As for now, I’m so excited about all that the future holds.”
